Frequently Asked Questions
Will additional 4•18 Intensives be offered in the future? October is the room currently open. We run a limited number each year and open one at a time. If the timing is wrong for you, register anyway, when you do you will hear about any future Intensives first, and your timing helps set the date.
Will the Intensive be recorded and available for playback? No. The work in those two and a half days is done on your own organization, out loud, among leaders at your altitude. That only happens when everyone present knows it is not being captured. A camera changes what gets said, and what gets said is the point. Candor is not a feature of the room; it is the mechanism the room runs on. Holding that room is our job – keeping it safe enough for the real question and structured enough that you leave with a plan. That work only happens live. What you take home is not a recording. It is your own diagnostics, your own strategy scored and rebuilt, and a bridge plan built in the room on your organization. A playback would hand you nothing more than a record of other leaders' work.
I have been in my seat for years and I am not in a transition. Is this for me? Yes. The 4 and the 18 are windows that open whenever scope changes, and scope can change while you're in the seat: a new board, a market that moved, significant change in your team, an organization that outgrew the plan it was built on. Leaders who have held the seat a long time often have the most stale read on what their organization can carry today, because nothing has forced the question. The work is the same either way. See the organization as it is now, test the strategy against it, and build the plan forward.
Who else will be in the room? Could a competitor be there? Every room is built by application and matched by altitude. The October rooms are separate: one for executives holding the top seat, one for leaders carrying direct responsibility for executing strategy. We do not seat direct competitors together, and no participant sits alongside someone they report to or who reports to them. What is said in the room stays in it, and that is a condition of the seat rather than a courtesy.
What if my organization has no formal strategic plan, or the one we have is out of date? That is the condition the 4•18 Intensive was built for. The diagnostic works on what you have, whether that is a formal plan, a set of priorities, or an inherited document no one has revisited. Leaders often arrive braced to be caught out and find the opposite: naming the gaps precisely is what makes the next plan buildable. You do not need to arrive with anything polished.
Can two leaders from my organization attend together? Yes, on two conditions. You sit at the same level, and neither of you reports to the other, directly or indirectly. Both rules exist to protect candor, and both are conditions of enrollment. For a larger group, a single-company cohort runs on those same two rules and is arranged separately - please email us if this is something you are interested in.
How much time does this take beyond the two and a half days? Pre-work is required and it gates your seat. Before Day 1 you complete a personal assessment, a Strategic Context Inventory on your own organization, 2-4 total pre-work hours. Block three calendar days for the Intensive itself; the content runs two and a half.
Is it virtual or in person? October runs virtually. In-person cohorts are built on demand at the same price, because delivery mode changes our cost rather than your value. The content, the hours, and the credit are identical either way.
What does application-only mean, and how long until I hear back? Your application is part of registration. Nothing is due at that stage and you are not committed to anything. When enrollment opens on October 1, registered leaders have the first opportunity to claim a seat. When the twenty seats are taken, enrollment closes. We review every application within 24 hours of payment and contact you either way. If a seating conflict means we cannot place you in this room, your payment is returned in full and you hold first position for the next Intensive.
What is included, and what is not? The seat includes the pre-work assessments and diagnostics, all sixteen content hours across the two and a half days, the work built on your own organization, and sixteen continuing-education hours. It does not include follow-on one-to-one work. Stephanie's coaching engagements and Erin's strategic advisory and performance navigation engagements are separate, and neither will be pitched or sold in the room.
Can my organization pay for my seat? Yes. You can pay by credit card directly when enrollment opens, or request an invoice at registration and pay by ACH. Seats are confirmed when payment is received. We do not hold a seat against a pending approval, so if your approvals take time, request the invoice when you register to expedite the process.
Can I get a refund if something comes up and I cannot make it? We want you to feel confident committing to The 4•18 Intensive, and we also want to be upfront about how refunds work. If you cancel at least 14 days before your cohort's start date, you'll receive a full refund. If you cancel less than 14 days of the start date, you won't receive a cash refund, but you'll receive a credit toward a future cohort. Once the Intensive has started, no refunds or credits are available. If you have questions about your specific situation, reach out to us directly and we're happy to talk it through.
Do you offer pricing for multiple seats? No. Given the limited number of seats available in the 4•18 Intensives, we do not offer multi-participant discounts. If you are interested in scheduling an Intensive for your full team, please contact us directly to discuss options and pricing.
How does the continuing-education credit work? Sixteen instructional hours, self-reportable to SHRM, HRCI, PMI, RIMS-CRMP, ATD, and IIA at no additional fee. We issue a completion certificate and an attendance record, and you submit them to your credentialing body. Credit is earned on instructional time, which is why the scheduled days run longer than the sixteen hours.
